Dear students! I am Mr. Schroeter (39) and the teacher of about 50 German students who are keen on responding to your personal profiles. They quickly inform you about how they perceive your ways of life, comparing them to their own lifestyles, and tell you about their personal interests and values in life. Our students are about 20-30 years old and are getting prepared for the university entrance exam (A-Levels) which they normally pass after three years of attendance and efforts. They usually work all day and attend our High School from 05:30 - 10:00 in the evenings. See what they are writing about themselves...
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Eden and I am currently in my first year of college at California State University of San Marcos. I am eighteen years old. Thank you for taking the time to read about my life and I hope this was a beneficial way to help you learn English!

Hi there Diana,
DeleteIn Germany psychology is one of the most loved subjects!
It´s very difficult to get accepted at a university if you wanna study psychology here, because you can only enter if you have extraordinary marks. So you have my highest respect! Also family is really important as you said. But isn´t it problematic to be with your family when you have tests or exams?
Do you sometimes feel overstressed as a student?
Hope to hear from you soon. Take care.

ReplyDeleteHello Bailey, I am Hannah and want to respond to your values in life...
DeleteI think many people doesn't like history, because they think it's boring, why do you choose it?
It's very exceptional for a girl to like action films that much. A few years ago I loved one too, called "Transformers". I play the guitar and I'm very interested in songs you like to play on your ukulele. You said the next country you want to travel to is Italy. Do you want to travel to a special place in Italy and do you have more destinations? I always want to go on a safari in Africa, dive in Australia and visit some places in the USA like New York City and Miami.
hello hannah! I like to play a song called "somewhere over the rainbow" on my ukulele. It is a song from the movie "The Wizard of Oz" I would love to travel to Verona in Italy and I would also like to visit Australia someday!

It's very hard.....not the learning but the time is a little problem. I don't have much free time because I get up at 05:00 in the mornig and go to work. I finish my work at 04:30 and after that I drive to evening school and my day ends at 09:45 in the evening. It is annoying but I give my best every day .
Hello! My name is Jasmine Shambo. I am a student at the California State University of San Marcos. ReplyDeleteHello fellow student,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Alexis Van Pelt, I was born in La Jolla, California in 1998. I have two dogs and two cats that I love very much. I am a nine-teen year old female student at California State University San Marcos. I have not decided on a college major yet, but hope to do so soon. I am currently interested in three majors; criminal justice, astronomy, and architecture. What degree are you planning on majoring in? As for hobbies, I used to play soccer (football) and softball ( baseball for women) in high school, however, because of a brain injury I am no longer able to play those sports. I have friends on the women's soccer team so I go and support them when I am able to. When I am not studying or in class, I tend to sleep or work out. I love to draw, paint, listen to music, go to concerts, go to the beach, and play the guitar. What are your hobbies and interests outside of school? I am currently employed at Surfside Animal Hospital in Oceanside, California. I work at Surfside every summer with my grandmother. What is your current occupation (job)? My sophomore year in high school I took a physics class that I really enjoyed, it was very interactive and kept the class interested. What is your favorite class? My favorite music artists are The 1975, Halsey, and The Chainsmokers. Who are your favorite music artists? I really enjoy eating candy and chocolate, which contradicts how much I love working out and being active. Do you enjoy sweets as well? Look forward to hearing from you!
Hello!
ReplyDeleteMy name Is Jonathan Casillas. I am eighteen years old. Currently, I am a freshman enrolled in my second semester at California State University of San Marcos. I am on the course of majoring in Criminal Justice. With this major, I will be able to join the Detectives and Criminal Investigators. If all goes according to plan, I should graduate by the Fall semester of 2020. I plan on becoming an FBI Agent. I am from Vista, California which is my current city of residence. I commute from my home to the university by the SPRINTER, which is the train that passes through multiple cities where I live by. I have classes Monday through Friday, for approximately three hours each day. I finish my day early which allows me to have time for schoolwork and my personal life. I recently started working at a pizza place called Little Caesar’s. Right now I am in the training process to make the everyday pizza, which is known as the “Hot-N-Ready” pizza. The “N” stands for and, and many people order this pizza, because they are always ready, since we can make them very quickly. One major hobby of mine is playing soccer. I have played this sport ever since I was able to walk, and it has become one of my biggest passions. Other hobbies of mine follow as: hanging out with friends, listening to music, and spending time with my two brothers. I am the youngest of five, so I am considered the “baby” of the family. That is just a little information on my daily life as a college student. I hope to hear back from you soon, take care!
Hi there, Jonathan,
Deleteyour goal of becoming an FBI Agent sounds so cool!
Are there any other requirements to become an FBI Agent besides studying ? In Germany you have to pass a sports and psychologic test as well. Also does "Hot-N-Ready" Pizza sell Italian or American type Pizza ? I know that both of them are different. Which one do you prefer ? Take care and have a nice day.

Hello! My name is Michael Mendiola. I was born in California but when I was 12 I moved to Tijuana Mexico. I am a eighteen year old student at California State University San Marcos. My major is biology. I hope one day to become a virologist and study viruses and other diseases. In my free time I like to play guitar. I also like to play videogames and read. I currently work at a restaurant called chipotle. My favourite book is “The Road” by Cormac Mccarthy. It is very easy to read and very good, I recommend you read it. I live with my family in a small town called Escondido. There are four of us. Me, my sister, my mother, and my father. I really enjoy living in California, the weather is nice and so are the people. One thing that is strange is that I hate the beach. Most people from California love it, but I hate it. There is always too many people there and the sand is annoying. One of my favourite places to be is the mountains. It does not matter which ones, I love all mountains. I enjoy being in high places and hiking. My favourite video game is Destiny. I try to play it every night after doing my homework. I have never visited Germany but I hope one day I will. I have always wanted to travel to Europe. Unfortunately I have only been in the United States and Mexico. Good luck and have fun in your studies!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon, my name is Lyana Williams and I am a student at California State University of San Marcos. I am currently majoring in Nursing, which is an extremely impacted major. An impacted major means that there are more people applying for the major than there are seats available in the class. However, I am going to change my major. I am just not sure what it is that I want to be when I am older. I am only 18 years old and having to make such a big decision about my future is difficult. Although I do not know what career I want go into, I know that I want to go into a career that helps others. I am enrolled in four courses at the moment. I have three classes on campus. These classes include writing, life-learning, and Spanish. I also have one online course in philosophy. When I am not in school I am usually either spending time with friends, spending time with family, or working. I work as a pizza maker at Domino’s pizza. I am only able to work at nights because of school and I cannot work past 10 pm because I have class early in the morning. My boyfriend went to Germany recently and from the pictures, I seen that it is a really beautiful place. He really enjoyed his stay over there. He went to meet his favorite soccer team, Bayern Munich. I hope to be able to visit over there some day. I am hoping to get a good paying career from attending college. With the money that I make from my future career, I want to be able to travel around the world.

Hey, my name is Roberto Campos Miranda I am a student at the University of California San Marcos. I am a freshman who comes from a Latino background. Others might refer to me as a Mexican-American student. I was born in Mexico and I was brought over to the United States at a very young age. I just like you had to learn English as a second language. I know it is not easy but from my own personal experience I know that if you are determined and you don’t give up, you can do it. I am attending school right now to earn a degree in liberal studies, in order to be able to become a physical education teacher. I want to become a physical education teacher because I like working with students and I am very athletic. During my free time I like to go to the gym and work out. As well I like to go outside and play sports with my friends. One of my favorite sports to play is soccer. I play soccer on campus as well as off campus, in a team in the local community. When I am not in class playing sports or doing homework I spent time with my family and work a part time job. This part time job is a temporary job that I got in order to help me pay for my education. Unfortunately, school here can be very expensive and for many students that come from low income backgrounds like myself tend to struggle to pay for school. Another thing that I also like to do on my free time is watch movies and listen to music. Some of my favorite movie genres that I like to watch are action and comedy. I am really excited and look forward to hearing back from about what your life is like in Germany.
ReplyDeleteHallo, my name is Tristan Johnson (19). I am a student at California State University San Marcos. I am currently attending college as a visual arts major and I am thinking of getting a job in graphic design after I graduate. I got the idea to become a graphic artist because I have always liked to draw a lot as a child. Both of my parents have gone to college before me, so I am not the first. My mother is a nurse and my Father works with software design. Both of them told me that they had changed their major at least once while they were in college. Hearing that make me feel a bit better because I do not know if I want to continue working for a visual arts major. The thing that got me thinking about graphic design was when I was going through high school. From grade nine until grade twelve I took art at least one art class every year. If I spent one more year in high school, I would not have any art classes left to take, which would be boring. I play a lot of videogames in my free time. I have a collection of games that is not too big, but also not small. I get a lot of fun out of playing these games with my friends from high school. I live with five other roommates at my college. We share a big apartment and get along well. As long as my roommates do not play their music too loud anyway. I was told that you would be responding to this. I am looking forward to see what you have to say.
ReplyDeleteHello! How are you all doing? My name is Lucas Kenefick and I am a first-year student at California State University San Marcos. I am twenty years old (20) who lives in Temecula, California. I plan on majoring in Computer Science (Information Systems). When I become a Computer Scientist I would like to work for a casino here in California for my career choice. I love to travel to any countries across the world, I have been to about (8) countries out of the United States and will continue to visit more. When I get bored or on my free time, I like to visit and walk on the beach with my friends and family and relax for the day or just go on simple road trips to random places. If I am ever by myself and I am bored, I will just watch television or watch a movie at my house in Temecula. Visiting the mall on my free time is always fun to do, you meet new people and get to shop for new clothes and have fun! I am Native American from, The Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians this is part of who I am, I love to talk about my Tribal backgrounds to whoever is curious about it. I also practice my tribal traditions that my ancestors pasted down from generations, and it is very interesting to learn about. I have three (3) hobbies: Lacrosse, Cars, and Traveling around the world. I hope all of you are interested in my life and understand what it is like to be a student in California, and hope to hear back from everyone!
ReplyDeleteHello, my name is Alaa Alahmadi, and I am a freshman student at California State University San Marcos. I am from Saudi Arabia. I came to the United States of America in 2014 to get my bachelor degree in Human Development. Since the spoken language in my country is Arabic, I had to study in an English institute, which called The American Language Cultural Institute, ALCI. I liked the ALCI since they improved my English Language. I remember my first days in the United States when could not tell the different between the verbs, and nouns. Also, I am married and I do have a baby boy, Khalid, who is one year and two months now. It is very hard to be a parent while being a college student; however, I up for the challenge, and doing very well in my classes. I picked California State San Marcos since it is a very friendly community. Where I came from, Saudi Arabia, it is very hard to study what sparks your attention or what you really feel in love to do. I am glad that I had the opportunity to come and study in the United States. In my free time, I like to go to the gym to workout. I like being in the United States since I must manage my time well, which helps me to be well organized. I have learned in the U.S many different things. The more important thing I have learned here is being on time, and how being organized help you through your day.
ReplyDeleteHello Alaa Alahmadi,
Deleteit must be very hard to have a kid and study at the same time. But you seem to be very motivated! And that´s what counts the most. How hard was it to decide whether to study in Saudi Arabia or in the USA? If you had the chance would you do it again? I also plan to go studying the last two semesters in England or in the USA. Have a nice day.
Hello,
DeleteYes, it is very difficult to have a kid and study at tge same time. How about studying abroad? I am glad that my husband is very helpful to me, and he always encourage me to do better and follow my dreams. He is my inspiration. Every time ai feel tired of studying, I get motivated as soon as I see my kid or I remember him, once he is at the daycare. I want my kid to have a better life than I did, and I want him to be better than me once he graw up.
It was very hard decision that I chose, studying in the U.S. Or in my country, but ai picked the hard one, the U.S. To follow my dreams. My dreams are hard, sometimes, but they are achievable. I will definitely do it again.
Good luck with your exams, and ai hope you do will as well in your choice, the U.S. Or England.
Hello! My name is Justine Dela Cruz and I am currently a student here at California State University San Marcos. I go to school about five times a week, from Monday to Friday. Every day I have classes, I commute from my home to the university. It takes me about 30 minutes to drive to the university. All my classes start in the morning and end before the afternoon. That way, I have a lot of time to do things I need to do for the day. I am currently trying to get a Nursing major at this university. I was pretty much surrounded by nurses as a kid. My mom is a nurse, my grandmother was a nurse, and even some of my aunts and uncles are nurses. I grew interested in the nursing profession that way. There is just something about helping other people that makes me happy. When I am not busy studying or doing homework, I like to play basketball. During days when I feel a little lazy, I usually just end up watching shows on Netflix all day. I cannot do as many things as I want to because I have to watch my little brother every day while my parents are at work. Another thing I really like to do is listen to music. I enjoy all kinds of music besides country. Listening to music helps me relax. It is a way for me to relieve stress and even helps me think a little clearer. Even when I am driving, I always make sure that I have some music playing. Anyways, thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Alexandra Tavares, but I like to go by Shana. I am eighteen years old and am a first year at California State University San Marcos. I was born in Santa Clara, California which is in the northern part of California. I have two younger brothers named Brandon and Christopher, and we are all of Portuguese descent. My mom works as an Administrative Assistant, and my dad works as a painter for a painting company. I have two dogs at home named Abby and Khloe and am looking forward to seeing them when I go home for summer. I am currently living on campus at the university, as I live six and a half hours away from school. I work as a sales associate at a clothing store at the mall on weekends and after school on week days. I have classes five days a week and am majoring in psychology. I am hoping to go to graduate school after I finish my undergraduate studies, to become a Family and Relationship Psychologist. When I’m not going to school or at work I love to hang out with friends, listen to music, and go on little adventures. Some of my favorite music artists are Drake, YG, and Post Malone. I’ve been to a YG concert and also a Post Malone concert, so I am hoping to go to a Drake concert soon. I also hope to travel in the future as well, seeing as I’ve only been to the Azores (islands off the cost of Portugal) to see family. I look forward to learning more and hearing back for you!
Hallo! My name is Galilea Gonzalez, I am 18 years old and I will soon be turning 19 on April 30th. I am a first year college student at California State University of San Marcos and my plan is to major in Sociology and minor in Spanish. I am Hispanic and speak Spanish fluently. I live in Escondido, which is about 15 minutes away from San Marcos. I currently work as a barista at a Starbucks near my house. Do you guys like Starbucks? What is your favorite drink? I am also a cadet with the Escondido Police Department. I love this program because it is a great opportunity for me since I hope to be a police officer one day. This program is a volunteer program in which 16-21 year-olds get to experience what an officer does on a day-to-day basis. Between work, school and the cadet program I still try to find time to go to the gym and spend time with my friends. I have a boyfriend named Robert (or Robby) who I met through the cadet program. He attends Arizona State University and we have been in a long-distance relationship with the exception of some trips and visits. I have a dog, named Nani, who is like my baby. She is a cute little terrier-mix and I love her so much! I live at home with my parents, my older brother Zimbad and my younger sister Venecia. My siblings and I all get along great. How many siblings do you guys have? Can’t wait to hear back from you guys and gals!
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Sean Stemm. I am 19 years old. I am currently a freshmen at California State University San Marcos. I am studying Criminology. When I finish college here at San Marcos I want to become a police detective. I have always wanted to help people and I believe becoming a police detective is my destiny. I have always had a small curiosity for things I that did not make sense and I have always wanted to solve those problems. The best way for me to put that curiosity to work and to help people is to become a police detective. My parents think becoming a police officer is too dangerous in the world we live in. But, I always tell them that I love danger. Both of my parents went to college. My mother was the first in her family to attend college and now she is a 2nd grade teacher. My father is the 3rd generation to go to college. His name is Brian and he is a Physicist. He does not work with elements directly, but he trades materials to large companies. In high school I was very athletic and I played 4 sports and those sports were; American Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Track & Field. I love sports and my favorite sport is Football. I learned so many life lessons from the people that I had met during my 14 years of football. The most important life lesson that I learned was, “with a big heart you can win anything.” A “Big heart” means somebody who risks everything they have to accomplish something. Somebody with a big heart is not always the most talented person in a group, but they practice like they want to be the best. They are the most respected people in a football locker room. I would love to hear about your life in Germany and about the different sports you all have played or are interested in!
ReplyDeleteGreetings, my German friends! My name is Sean Stemm and I believe the most important ideal in The United States of America is the American Dream. And the definition of that ideal is that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosper through hard work, dedication, and determination. Not only should you focus on your own success, but it also includes lending out your hand to somebody in-need to make your community stronger. A lot of movies that I have watched include a poor immigrant migrating to the united states to start a business and my great grandparents were one of these poor immigrants. My Great Grandpa was a pizza baker in Sicily, Italy and he moved to the United States in 1927. He had 5 children with his wife and they lived in Buffalo, New York for twenty or thirty years. They eventually moved to San Diego, California and opened a pizza and bread bakery in Pacific Beach, SD. The business became very popular and that was my Great Grandpa’s dream. To build up a business and provide for his family. He also wanted to create a family community around his business and that is what he did. My mother had grown up around him and her American Dream was to be the first person in her family to go to a University. And she achieved to Goal and eventually became a school teacher in my hometown. After she settled down with my dad in Ramona, CA she became involved with the community to make them stronger and a strong community starts with trust. She reminds herself of her Grandpa by making his famous rolls every week to remember his American Dream and the success he had. I am still searching for my American Dream. But I believe it is my destiny to make the American community stronger.
DeleteHello! My name is Sarah Wilson and I am 19 years old. I am a first year student at California State University San Marcos this year. I was born in Torrance, California and have lived in the United States most of my life. I have also lived in Ireland. I am studying to be a doctor someday and I am enjoying it so far. I am also training to be an officer in the United States Navy. I have two half siblings (one from each of my parents). My little sister is named Samantha (8) and she excels at speaking different languages. Right now, she speaks four languages fluently (English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Japanese). My brother is named Alek (16) and I am teaching him how to drive. My family is very important to me and I would do anything for them. I live over 100 miles away from my brother, so I drive to go see him twice a month and talk to him on the telephone daily. My father’s dad (my grandfather) is originally from Germany so I really want to go to Germany again. I went once when I was younger, but I do not remember much of the trip. I enjoy surfing, scuba diving, and traveling. I have two dogs: a German Shephard named Harley and a Rottweiler named Ike. During the times that I am not going to school or working, I enjoy listing to music and watching movies. I also play and coach basketball and lacrosse. I love to watch sports too. I am very excited to learn about all of you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sarah. It is very fascinating that your young sister speaks so many languages. She must be a talent. I have a younger brother who is 15 years old and he plays football in a club.
DeleteHe has got training three times and mostly one football game per week. I am not a sportive guy because I haven´t got so much time and I am also very lazy. But I like listening to music and paint some pictures. Finally I want to know what German food you like?
Hello! My name is Kyle Ryan, I’m 19 years old and I attend the California State University of San Marcos. I am majoring in Mass Media and Communications in hopes of getting a job where I can use my voice. I was specifically interested in the career of a broadcasting news analyst which, if you don’t know, is a job where you analyze news to the audience either on television or radio. This is my first year in college after attending a small high school, roughly 40 minutes from the college, called Fallbrook High School. There I played American football for three years where I made several memories and great friends. I still see many of them between going to school and helping out with a family friend’s delivery service as a job. At the college, the classes I am taking are Spanish 2, Oral Communications, Philosophy, and Life Long Learning. I live with my parents about 30 minutes away from the college in a house in Oceanside. I am very grateful for living in such a beautiful place like Oceanside, I am only 20 minutes away from the beach. I like to go there to think, relax, or just hang out with my friends. At my home I have a dog, she is a Siberian Husky, and her name is Zoe. She is thought of as another family member and gets treated like such. I am an only child, so I like to look at her as my little sister. What kind of activities do you guys have around you? What kind of classes are you taking? What kind of careers are you interested in? I can’t wait to hear from you guys, thank you for reading!
ReplyDeleteHallo! My name is Vanessa Deleonardis, I am 18 years old, I live in Oceanside, California and I attend Cal State University San Marcos. I have lived in Oceanside my whole life. I live at home with my mom, dad, brother and Jack Russell Terrier named Rascal. Oceanside is only a 25 minute drive from CSUSM. This is my first year in college. My major is pre-kinesiology, I will officially be admitted to the major once I have taken all the necessary classes to apply. I hope to become a holistic nutritionist. A holistic nutritionist is someone who eats food as close to its natural state as possible. That would include unrefined, unprocessed, organic and locally grown whole foods. A healthy lifestyle is my passion in life. At CSUSM I attend my classes in the morning. I start at 7:30am and end at 11:20am, Monday through Friday. After my classes, I drive home, and I do my homework. After I complete my homework for the day I go to the gym and attend lacrosse practice. I play club lacrosse at CSUSM, we practice monday through thursday. On the weekends we have games. We compete against other universities in Southern California. As of right now we have won most of our games. I also work at a restaurant in Oceanside called Local Taphouse & Kitchen. I have worked there for almost a year. I used to host but now I take food and drinks to the customers and I clean tables. I really love my job because it allows me to earn my own money for my personal needs and wants. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me, and I hope to hear from you soon!
ReplyDeleteHello Vanessa! I think it`s fascinating that you are working so hard to have a healthy lifestyle. You are a really busy person. Do you like your first year in college? Lacrosse sounds like fun.
DeleteHello! I love the healthy and natural lifestyle! I am really enjoying my first year of college, besides the busy work load. Is it your first year in college? Do you play any spots?
DeleteHello Vanessa, How do you startyour days? Also early in the morning at 7:30 pm ?I like your determination, because you do your homework quickly after school every day. You are seemingly a very fit person, because you go to the gym. Do you only like the gym or do you like some other healthy activities like dancing? What is your favorite music? Which food do they prepare and sell in the restaurant on Oceanside ? Do you like the kitchen? The name local Taphouse is very interesting.
DeleteSpending your money on some plans -,what are your personal needs and wants in the future? Best, Jennifer from Bielefeld, Germany
Hello Jennifer! I begin my day at 7:30 in the morning on tuesdays and thurdays. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I start at 10:30 in the morning. DeleteHello everyone. My name is Triccia Delos Santos. I am a first year student at California State University San Marcos. I am 19 years old. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States when I was only 8 years old. Apart from being a student, I also work as a barista in a local coffee shop. Both of my parents are also from the Philippines. I have one younger brother and his name is Troy. He is only 9 years old. Right now, I am studying in school to become a nurse. Someday I would like to become a pediatrician, a doctor for children. I enjoy caring for my family and other people so I think the medical field would be good for me. My hobbies include: running, cooking, and watching Netflix. I started running a lot when I was in high school because I was in the long distance running team (cross country). Also, I really like food. My boyfriend and I always go to different restaurants around here in San Diego. The food we eat are all from different cultures such as: Japanese, Greek, Chinese, and many more. We both like trying new food and learning more about other cultures. My boyfriend and I also come from different cultures. His family is actually from Germany and I am Filipino. We are both planning to travel the world together. Next summer, we are going to visit Europe. I would love to hear about you and your culture and food there in Germany!
ReplyDeleteHello Triccia Delos Santos. I very like to read your post. I am 20 years old and I want to say that my mother was born in Cebu on the Philippines and my father was born in Germany. As I was a little child I visited the Philippines and my relatives there. It was a nice experience. But I don’t like to see that there are so many poor people there living on the street. I remember that it doesn’t smell good there. And all in all, I prefer to stay in Germany, because there are less people and a better infrastructure. I want to know how you found it on the Philippines?

ReplyDeleteHey, my name is Alaa Alahmadi and American dream is the chance to get what do you want to be in the future. When my husband got his scholarship, I was so happy because I will go with him to the United states. It was a dream for me to study in America and have a really good degree from here. Even though, my family was sad because I will leave them. I came to the united states and I was in Bellingham, WA. I start to study the English language very hard. I want to go to the university, but first I need to finish the English language. Then, we had to move to San Marcos, CA. I came here and I continued my study in ALCI. I took the IELTS two times, but I got 5 out of 9 and Cal State San Marcos asked at least 5.5. I did not give up, I graduated from ALCI and now I am freshman student in California State university San Marcos. I really enjoying being here and study my major Human Development. My baby boy encouraged to me choose this major because I study Child development, so I can be a good mother for him. When I came back to Saudi Arabia, my degree will be something big and my family will be proud of me. Also, I will find a really good job there because of my degree. We do not know! Maybe I will find a better job her in the United States. I want to stay here because of my baby, I want him to get a good education and good life.
Hello, my name is Michael Mendiola. The American Dream means many things. For some it means a better life. For others it means lies. Sometimes it can change it's meaning. For my family it meant a better life. My family are Mexican Immigrants who wanted a better life. So they came to America looking for work. They eventually found it and became successful. To them the American Dream is real. To some the American Dream died when Donald Trump became president. Because a long time ago immigrants helped build America. And now Donald Trump wants to make many immigrants leave. The American Dream still exists for many people. People from Syria want to come to America. But they can not because Donald Trump won't let them. My values are simple. Everyone should try their best to help others. Everyone's life should be used to make the world a better place. I value being tolerant of other and not to fear what you don’t understand. If there is something that scares you do not let that fear control you. Learn about the thing you are scared of. Understand it. I hope to one day be able to leave America. I want to live in New Zealand or Europe. I hope to become a virologist. That is someone who studies diseases and sickness. I hope to make medicines and things that help people. I also hope to one day travel the world. I want to meet different kinds of people.
ReplyDeleteHello, My name is Bella Sanchez
ReplyDeleteWhat does the American Dream mean to me? I believe that for someone not being a U.S. citizen they would think straight to a celebrity mindset, or think of Fashion, and the LA life. But, not all of us are that privileged. For me, the American Dream is something bigger. Being a middle class American, I believe the American Dream is living life to the fullest. Create dreams way bigger than us, and follow through with them. Starting long life friendships, and making memories. Build our education, not only in school, but in our daily lives as well. Learning something new everyday that we can teach to every generation after us. Everyone has a different vision of what the American Dream is. But, as long as you are staying true to yourself and following through with every decision and goal you set, I believe that is a real American Dream. Believe in yourself and anything is possible. Found on Brainy Quote, written by Buzz Aldrin, “I think the American Dream used to be achieving one’s goals in your field of choice - and from that, all other things would follow. Now, I think the dream has morphed into the pursuit of money: accumulate enough of it, and the rest will follow.” This is true because, nowadays, everything is so expensive and revolves around money. We can’t follow our dreams without thinking about a dollar amount. But, with a little more work and a little more determination you can do it.
Hi my name is Roberto Campos,
ReplyDeleteThe American dream is something many people hope to reach during their lifetime. To me the American dream is being able to better yourself from the position you were in, when you were born. For me this is pursuing an education, being able to hopefully support myself and my family financially. As well being able to live with freedom. By this I'm referring to all the rights granted to all U.S. citizens in the United States Constitution. I come from a hispanic background, both myself and my family immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. when I was very young. To them the American dream was being able to come to a land of opportunity in search of a job and a nice place to be able to raise a family. Without having problems that could not be controlled by them because the country they lived in did not allow it. I personally do not believe that the American dream exists in the same way now as it did for my parents and my grandparents. This is because although that there are many wonderful opportunities to be taken advantage of it is not as promising as before. It is evident because sometimes no matter how hard you work and dedicate yourself it is very difficult to prosper without the same opportunities that there were back in the day. For example in today's world it is very competitive to get a job due to the lack of job openings. As well many people are lazy and file for government aid even if they don't need it and this unfortunately decreases the amount of money the government can spend on bettering the community and in creating more jobs.
Hello, my name is Shana Tavares! My definition of the American Dream, is to be well educated, financially stable, and genuinely happy about life. These are my ambitions at least. I believe that once I achieve these goals, that I will have accomplished the “American Dream”. I am currently working on my first part of the dream by working on my education and getting my Bachelor’s degree in psychology. After this I hope to attend graduate school, to further expand my education. I feel like education is very important in my life, as well as to others in the U.S. and essentially around the world. Once I finish my schooling, I plan to get a job within my area of study and begin to pay back any debts I owe. Being financially stable is also a dream for everyone. No one wishes to be poor, but also not every person you meet would like to be rich. Many people, including myself would just like to have enough money to get through life while having a little extra money to do fun things (like going on vacation). The American Dream was different for my grandparents and for my dad. My grandparents and my dad immigrated from Portugal and came to America for a better life. They didn’t come to study, but they came to make more money to support their family. This is different from my dream because they were trying to find any job that would hire them to do hard labor for money that would support them here, and their family back home if possible. Though they were both dreams, they have differences that set them apart.

Hello, my name is Christian Wunram and I am 20 years old. I live in Detmold, a small town in Germany. Now I have been going to evening school in Detmold since August 2016 for doing my A-Level. When I finish my A-level I want to study chemistry. In the morning I go working at the Max-Rubner Institut for Safety and Quality of Cereals as a chemical laboratory worker. My favorites subjects are chemistry and maths. In my free time I love to play table tennis with my friends and sometimes my brother and me go walking to stay healthy and fit. Unfortunately I am better at maths as in English or German. I always want to improve myself but I have some problems to remember English words. I am really excited about your postings. ReplyDeleteMy name is Gregor Hoffmann and I am 30 years old.
I am from Germany, Bielefeld. But I was born in Thailand, Chon Buri. I go to work from Monday- Friday and after work I go to school to get prepared for the university entrance exam (A-Levels). It's very hard.....not the learning but the time is a little problem. I don't have much free time because I get up at 05:00 in the mornig and go to work. I finish my work at 04:30 and after that I drive to evening school and my day ends at 09:45 in the evening. It is annoying but I give my best every day .

Hello, my name is Jascha Klausing and I‘m 23 years old. I live in Künsebeck in an industrial area because I like living outside the central part of the city. I‘m still living with my parents because so far I‘m not able to live on my own, but that will change soon. Currently I‘m attending evening school to get my iniversity entrance degree (A-levels). I got my GCSE (my average mark was B at the end) last summer, so I had a bit of an advantage when I first came here. So it wasn‘t that much of a problem to repeat some of the lessons I already had, but that didn‘t bother me much, because I like to help my fellow students (especially in math and english, sometimes french as well). I also work part-time in a supermarket between 6 am and 9 am (except Tuesday, Thirsday and Sunday), sometimes earlier or later, it depends. So my average sleep time is six hours. Sounds difficult to manage, but I got used to it; I can also sleep middays, so it‘s not that dramatic. In my freetime I play videogames, it may sound stupid but I actually learned a lot from it (grammar, reaction time, patience for example). I don‘t have any ideas what I want to do after I finished evening school, math and computer are my current directions.
ReplyDeleteHi I‘m Maik I live in Herford, but I want to move to Bielefeld because I am working there and the Abendgymnasium (evening School) is also in Bielefeld. The way from Herford to Bielefeld is quite short, but there is much traffic on the roads. I am really interested in soccer, my favorite club is Borussia Dortmund - they won against Bavaria Munich yesterday the score was 2:3. It was a fantastic game. If there is money left, which rarely occurs, I spent my money in bets. I hope to hear from you soon.
ReplyDeleteHi! I am Jessica Lenz and 21 years old. I live in Bielefeld, but maybe I want to move to Hannover or Osnabrück in Germany. I have one brother, he lives in Kassel, in Germany. At the moment he is studying architecture.
ReplyDeleteMy hobbies in the holidays or free time are playing football, table tennis. In the summer I like travel to other countries.
My favorite subject is maths, I don´t like language e.g. French. Write if you have questions.

Hi Bella, My favorite artists are Rise Against , Guns N´Roses , JBO, Arch Enemy and some other artists. I visited Wacken last year. Wacken is the most popular and famous Festival in Germany. Did you hear anything about that? Are there many festivals in your area?
DeleteI have never heard of Wacken! I will have to look it up.
DeleteThe most popular music festival we have here is called Coachella.
But I see you listen to a lot of bands. We have a popular rock music festival that's called Warped Tour. At this one you can meet band members. It is really cool!
I listen to a lot of rap music.
Hey, my name‘s Sven, living in the small village of Halle Westfalen and going to the evening school in Bielefeld to get my entrance to the university to study economics.
ReplyDeleteI‘m 26 at the moment and going strong to 27, but i‘m not too worried about my age at the moment, since most university students do not begin their carrier until well into their thirties.
I like your way of life and will answer some of your questions.
Hey Sven,
DeleteWhy is it that most university students don’t begin their career’s until they are in their thirties? I was also curious what do you like to do on your free time and what exactly do you want to do with a major in economics?
Hi! My name is Levin and i am 30 years old. I am currently trying to get my A levels at an evening school in Bielefeld and my goal is to study graphic design. I started to go to this school in February and i really like it. Everyone is really nice and we have a lot of fun. In my freetime i like to create websites and 3d models, write programs, meet my friends and being in the nature.
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Tim, I´m 25 years old and I've been doing my A-Levels right now in Bielefeld, Germany, since February this year. I also work with handicapped people who need help in their daily structure. It is a psychiatric specialised institution. I work at night. In my free time, which is really limited, I like to do sports, especially
ReplyDeletekickboxing and some cardio stuff like running or swimming. The different cultures and languages around the world are things that are really interesting to me. At schoot I learn English and French simultaneously. I also have knowledge of Italian, Persian, Arabic and Spanish - each of them not
fluently but I can understand and follow the context and I wouldn´t die in countries, where these languages are spoken.
Furthermore, I like to read about politics, science and sports, like soccer. The soccer association in Europe is really big, they generate a lot of money with big events like the UEFA Champions League, for example. If I have the time for watching soccer, I prefer to follow Borussia Dortmund, maybe you heard about the team: There is a player, who is from the U.S. he is called Christian
Pulisic. There was a little discussion about how his name gets pronounced at the beginning of a match. The player wanted to be pronounced in an English way, but the stadium speaker pronounced him in a, I think it was Croatian way, but I´m not sure, which country of the Balcan he is from. So the federation decided, that he has to be called in the Croatian style. I think I have written enough, so feel free to ask some questions if you like.
Greetings
Hi my name is Julia Jansen and I`m just sitting in evening school. I like darts and soccer. I am fan of Borussia Dortmund. Is someone there who likes Borussia Dortmund too?
ReplyDeleteHi Julia!
DeleteI am a huge fan of soccer. I have been playing soccer for almost 9 years now. My favorite soccer player is actually Vinny Jones. He doesn't play anymore though. He has to be one of the roughest soccer players I have ever seen. Have you heard of him?
, Bella
Hello! My name is Caroline Roskowetz. I am 33 years old and married since 4 years. For 12 Years i am working as a nurse, but I don‘t enjoy it anymore. That‘s the reason why I am currently trying to get my A levels at an evening school in Bielefeld. Later I want to study, but don‘t know exactly what, but where. I want to move back to Hamburg. My favorite city in Germany. In my free time I playing EVE, an online game. That‘s me...
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline!
DeleteFirst off, I find it so interesting that all of you are so much older than us as you have already started your career paths and families. The dynamic is incredible to me.
I am married as well, believe it or not at nineteen years old. I just got married last November.
Why don't you enjoy working as a nurse anymore? I'm very interested to hear why! If you're working towards your A levels in Bielefeld to work on your English language, do you have any thoughts on what you might want to pursue for a new career after or have absolutely no clue?
It's super cool to get to converse with you guys because my Mom's side of my family descends and comes from Germany and the former Czechoslovakia. When my mother attended college she went to Germany as an exchange student for a semester and absolutely loved it. I actually think she went to school in Hamburg but I'm not quite sure.
What do you like to do the most in Hamburg? Whats your favorite site to see? Or place to go? I am hoping to travel to Germany with my mother before I start my family with my Husband. What towns or cities would you suggest to see the most?
Hope to hear back soon!
Hello! My name is Alina Hamm. I'm 23 years old and live in Blomberg, Germany. As a geriatric nurse I have not much free time, partly because I'm trying to do my A levels (university admission). When I'm not working or learning I go out with friends or go hiking with my dog. I love drawing, going to festivals and listening to electronic music. My plans for the future are studying law and travelling around the world. What are your plans for the future?
ReplyDeleteHi Alina!
DeleteYou like a lot of the same stuff that I do, so cool!
What's a geriatric nurse? That sounds interesting!
I love hiking, do you like hiking on mountains, in the woods, or on conservation trusts like on trails? What kind of dog do you have? I have a mixed dog. He's a black lab, beagle, and terrier. He looks like a mini black lab and his name is Rosco.
What kinds of festivals do you like to attend? Craft, music, art, or film? I've always wanted to go to a music festival. Still have yet to achieve that.
I'm actually studying Law too. Do you want to become a lawyer? I'm majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminology here at California State University. I want to become a Paralegal.
Hope to hear back from you!
Hi! My name is Hannah. I'm a 20-year-old student at the evening-school in Bielefeld. Mostly I work in a supermarket to pay off my car and free time activities. On Tuesday and Thursday I go to school in the evenings and if I don't have to work I do my homework, learn and so on. I attend school because I want to do my A-Level and study economic mathematics in Munich. After that I can work as a management consultant in big companies and earn a lot of money. I live in a house with my 48-year-old father and my 18-year-old brother. My mother (39) lives with her boyfriend in a house near us. We often spend time all together as a family, also at Christmas and so on. In my free time I play the guitar, write songs, listen to music and I love to go fishing or going out with friends and a lot more. For example I like to go to the cinema but I don't have much time for activities like that because of working and school.
ReplyDeleteI hope that I will get a good job and have more time to travel in the future.

DeleteHello Hannah,
DeleteI relate to your school and work situation because I am also working a full time job to pay off my car. Although I go to my classes in the mornings instead of the evenings due to my work schedule. I think that is great that you are furthering your studies and education! My major is business management and i will also be minoring in economics so that I can be an economic analyst for large companies and I noticed that is very similar to what you are doing with your studies and want the same type of job. What made you want to work as a management consultant in the first place? Also, what kind of music do you listen to? Is rap and hip-hop popular in Germany like it is here in the United Sates?
I hope to hear back from you sometime soon.
-Sara.
Hi Hannah,
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly are your A-levels? I am not very familiar with what that is. I can relate to you on some levels because I also attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. What kind of car do you have right now? I am a car guy and am curious to know what kind of car you have at the moment. I’d love to heard back from you.
